Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe has fired warning shots at US President Elect Donald Trump. He was speaking during a Zanu PF Politburo meeting in Harare. There was a general fear that Donald Trump could strike at Mugabe when he takes office on 20 January 2017. Mugabe didn’t waste time and went on to assure his comrades that he will deal with Trump the same way he dealt with George Bush and Tony Blair.
“Let Donald Trump read history correctly. Let him realise that both personally and in his representative capacity as the President Elect of the United States, he stands for this “civilisation” which occupied, which colonised, which incarcerated, which killed in Rhodesia.
“Trump has gone on a relentless campaign of destabilising and vilifying my country. He sponsors surrogate forces to challenge lawful authority in my country. He is seeking regime change, placing himself in the role of the Zimbabwean people in whose collective will democracy places the right to define and change regimes.”
Let him be told that i do not fear him, and if he keep on with his ways, i will teach him a lesson. He is a small boy in politics. We do not interfere with their own systems in America. Trump has no role to play in our national affairs. He is an outsider and mischievous and should therefore keep out! The colonial sun set a long time ago; in 1980 in the case of Zimbabwe, and hence Zimbabwe will never be a colony again. Never!”.
Mugabe further went to address the long standing issue of sanctions that were placed on Zimbabwe by the Western countries. “We do not deserve sanctions. We are Zimbabweans and we know how to deal with our problems. We have done so in the past, well before Trump was known politically. We have our own regional and continental organizations and communities,” he concluded
